A Magical Moment at Seal Rock

There are moments in nature when everything seems to pause, as though the world is quietly revealing a secret.

A Magical Moment at Seal Rock was inspired by one of those moments.

The ocean was alive that day—waves rolling and breaking against the ancient rocks, sending white spray into the air before rushing back toward the sea. I was drawn to the strength and movement of the water, but it was the sky that transformed the scene into something almost otherworldly.

Above the horizon, a luminous moon emerged through the clouds, surrounded by a delicate halo of shifting color. Soft blues, lavender, warm gold, and hints of rose seemed to mingle within the mist and clouds, creating an atmosphere that felt both peaceful and mysterious.

The rocks of Seal Rock stand firmly against the restless ocean, timeless witnesses to the endless rhythm of the tides. Their earthy warmth contrasts with the cool, translucent colors of the water, grounding the painting while the moon draws the eye upward into the sky.

As I painted, I imagined the moonlight touching the waves and awakening something ancient within the landscape—a quiet magic that can only be felt when we slow down long enough to notice it.

For me, this painting is more than a seascape. It is an invitation to remember that nature holds moments of wonder everywhere: in the movement of a wave, the glow of the moon, the changing colors of the sky, and the enduring presence of the rocks beneath it all.

Seal Rock became, for a moment, a meeting place between earth, sea, sky, and imagination.
