Imagine being able to see through the upper atmosphere into Saturn's interiors.  What may  be discovered?

Recent finds of Saturn have led scientists to believe the rings may change in shape through time; sculpted by Saturn and its magnetic forces.

My inspiration to paint Saturn is its mysterious and awe inspiring beauty.  There is so much yet to unravel into her mysteries.

Mythological tales of Saturn have been told of this God as the keeper of time.  Some of the first myths from Greece and Rome were Saturn being the God of Plenty.  Saturn ,  being visible in the night sky during fall months led people to believe Saturn was responsible for bearing abundant crops.  When the plague spread throughout Europe ,  Saturn was held responsible which changed the God's benelovent ways to more of the God which bears hardship on all those who happen to be under his influence.

I decided to paint Saturn on a large 5' x 5'  linen canvas .   I carefully oil glazed the fine detail in the atmosphere and boldly placed the ice crystals splaying out in the forground.  In the background Saturn appears as an angel busily creating all of its  30 moons.    - Shane' Mann
